End2End: The Rugby Relay

AREA OF EXPERTISE:Raising money for charities

The Challenge

Lexi Chambers is a below-knee amputee living with three chronic pain conditions and an indomitable spirit. Despite having had over 20 surgeries and facing constant pain levels of at least 8/10, her determination to make a difference cannot be quelled. In 2024, she took on the phenomenal challenge of wheeling herself (in a standard day-to-day wheelchair) from John O’Groats to Land’s End. To achieve this, she took on the equivalent distance of a marathon every day for 35 days – all to raise funds for her chosen charity.

Along the way, Lexi visited Rugby Clubs, carrying a signed rugby ball with her to connect grassroots and professional clubs across the country.

Of course, Lexi needed a website that would showcase her journey and enable people to follow and support her. She knew the managing director of Adopstar, Theresa Benson, through their ongoing mutual support of the Exeter Chiefs rugby team and asked her for help in creating a website that would help her make a difference.

ADOPSTAR'S RESPONSE

We created a fast, modern and appealing website that told Lexi’s story, detailed her journey and explained what the purpose of her adventure was. This website was powered by a custom content management system (CMS) that enabled Lexi and her team to make changes to the website directly. Since Lexi was making these updates during her amazing journey, the system needed to be quick and user-friendly. Thanks to the simple-but-efficient CMS that Adopstar created for the blog, Lexi’s hoard of supporters could keep up to date with her journey with every turn of the wheels.

We also added a quick and simple sign-up process for sponsors and easy ways for supporters to make donations.

Anyone embarking on a journey of this magnitude needed all the support we could give them, and with this in mind, we created a PDF flag that supporters could download, print and fly high when Lexi passed through their towns.

Our social media team also rose to the occasion magnificently, managing Lexi’s presence on various social media to spread her message as widely as possible.

Adopstar donated over 400 hours of our time and expertise to support this incredible challenge.

Here’s what we did in a nutshell:

  • Created two websites
  • Designed and printed flyers
  • Wrote and designed social media content
  • Managed End2End’s social media
  • Planned supporter events
  • Drove the support car for 5 days
  • Designed and printed business cards and display boards.
  • Compiled promo videos

the result

In short, we created an online presence that Lexi could be proud of! We included everything she asked for in her brief and added some extra features to make her websites and her journey even more impactful.

This project led to the creation of two websites (www.end2end.org.uk and www.lexichambers.com) as well as social media and print collateral. All in all, our team created a dynamic portrayal of an incredible woman, a vision to make a difference and a journey that can never be forgotten.
